New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries 2023 - The Time is Now
Solar Eclipse in Aries 2023 - Thursday, April 20 at 00:12h EST / 6h12h CET at 29°49’ of Aries
Picking up where last month’s New Moon in Aries left off with more intensity, this lunation provides a preview of the eclipses we will experience in the Aries-Libra axis. Later this year, all of the beginnings and endings in Taurus and Scorpio will come to a close, opening the portal for action in Aries and Libra. There is an increased feeling that we know where we’re going, with optimism and positivity to support it, and a dose of balanced pragmatism thanks to Saturn in Pisces. Time to boldly plan for the future you desire.
The time is now. We’re at the last degree of Aries in the last moments before we move into Taurus season. These are the last moments to be bold and continue to move in your desired direction. If you’re not already doing what you need to do, or you don’t know where or what to start, this Solar Eclipse can show you the way.
What is an eclipse?
Astrologically speaking, eclipses occur when there is either a New or Full Moon aligning with the Lunar Nodes. A Solar Eclipse indicates a New Moon that is an eclipse, while a Lunar Eclipse is a Full Moon eclipse.
According to NASA, an eclipse happens “when one heavenly body such as a moon or planet moves into the shadow of another heavenly body.” When it comes to lunar and solar eclipses, the Sun, Moon, and Earth are in perfect alignment. And for a solar eclipse specifically, a portion of the Earth is engulfed in a shadow cast by the Moon which fully or partially blocks sunlight.
The Lunar Nodes are not planets, but mathematical points in Astrology that have to do with where the orbit of the Moon crosses the ecliptic (path of the Sun). They symbolize past and future karma - where our soul has been (South Node) and where it’s destined to go (North Node). Therefore during eclipses, the Lunar Nodes are activated to help us see what we need to release and how we can move courageously towards our destiny.
I like to say that eclipses are New or Full Moons on steroids. They are not your average lunation. They are portals showing you what you need to release so that you can step into your destiny. Their energies can be quite unstable, so I generally don’t recommend during your usual Full Moon Ritual, but only you can know that for sure.
All about the Solar Eclipse in Aries 2023
This Solar Eclipse kicks off a new series and beginnings and endings. The North Node and South node officially switch signs on July 17 to Aries and Libra respectively, but because the Taurus North Node is in close proximity to the Sun, we have a Solar Eclipse in Aries.
You can look to your chart to see which houses are ruled by Taurus and Scorpio to understand the beginnings and endings you’ve been experiencing in the past year and a half, and check out where Aries and Libra are to see where you’re headed and what you’ll have to let go of.
Last month’s New Moon in Aries was at 0 degrees, and here we are at the final degree of Aries, 29. March was the kick-off and here in April it’s really time to get going. The 29th degree can be quite hasty, so be completely resolute in any decisions you want to make. If I were you, I’d hold off the decision-making for a few day (and double check it all due to Mercury Retrograde beginning on the 21.
This Solar Eclipse in Aries is ruled by Mars in Cancer. We might not necessarily go full speed ahead, but more likely we’re motivated and guided by our emotions. Given Mars’ sextile to Uranus, this is a great time for mental work, planning a future course of action, negotiating and cooperating with others with confidence.
Jupiter in Aries meets up with both the Sun and Moon, bringing confidence, optimism, a desire to get a lot out of life, general good feelings and generosity while understanding people on an intuitive, emotional level, and gaining metaphysical and spiritual insights.
The Moon in Aries forms a sextile to stabilizing Saturn in Pisces. Despite all the chaos an eclipse can bring, this alignment mellows things out and calls for reflection. We can more easily balance our emotional needs with duty and obligation, are more careful and thorough, and talk discuss what’s important without letting feelings overwhelm you. don’t let feelings overwhelm you, talking about important things
However, with the Moon square Pluto in Aquarius, it’s important to deal with your feelings honestly. It’s a time to deal with emotional power struggles and analyze how we’re showing up in different dynamics — are you playing the victim?
Finally, because the Moon in Aries is conjunct the North Node in Taurus (soon moving to Aries), a clear direction of where you want to go in life can present itself to you. I often suggest to clients during Eclipses to sit back and observe, and to listen to their intution instead of “willing” yourself to do certain things. Tap into what’s right for you. The time is now. Your time is now.
