New Moon in Pisces - Hope, realism, autonomy, and collective love

New Moon in Pisces 2023 - Monday, February 20 at 8:05 am CET / 2:05 am EST, 1°21’ Pisces

The New Moon in Pisces arrives on the 20, as does Venus’ move into the sign of Aries. There are slightly conflicting energies here, with the New Moon offering a chance to start afresh when it comes to spirituality, healing, forgiveness, acceptance, and trust in a higher power and the bigger picture. Venus in Aries brings us back to ourselves, and helps us follow our individual desires and passions. Can we hold onto both hope and realism at the same time? Can we remain autonomous as we build a better collective future?

New Moon in Pisces 2023 Astrology

Astrology of the New Moon in Pisces 2023, February 20 at 8:05 am CET / 2:05 am EST

Pisces energy is all-encompassing. If it got its way, it would be everywhere all at once. As the final sign of the Zodiac, it has elements of all the elevent signs that precede it. Its mutable, flexible nature seeks to bring things together toward its natural conclusion. It is the end of a cycle.

In contrast, New Moons - as the start of the lunar cycle — are all about new beginnings. They are a time to reconnect to what truly matters, tune into the depths of our souls, and explore the vast ocean of our subconscious.

A Pisces New Moon is a wonderful time to set intentions for healing, forgiveness, creativity, spirituality, meditation, compassion, trust in a higher power, dreams, and connecting to oneness, to name a few. These are themes that will soon characterize the next few years, as Saturn, planet of karma, structure, and boundaries, will move into the water sign on March 7. I encourage you to get better acquainted with the intangible these next few years.

For now, Saturn in Aquarius is still quite close to the New Moon. There is a bit of seriousness here. There is a sense that what we start or focus on right now has wider implications. To me, there’s a message of taking responsibility for your spiritual self as it is inextricable for how we will move on as a collective.

At the same time, there’s an element of romanticism and daydreaming as Venus and Neptune (Pisces’ ruler) in Pisces are still quite close together. There is cosmic permission to drift off into hope and greater visions of how we can relate to each other. How we need to remember we’re all interconnected.

Mercury in Aquarius forming a square to Uranus in Taurus helps stimulate our mind, electrifying things with new ideas and insights.

Venus in Pisces’ sextile to Pluto in Capricorn (making its way to Aquarius next month) can add intensity to our relationships, but also an element of obsession when it comes to things we start around this time. This aspect plus Saturn’s proximity to the New Moon can help us commit deeply to our intentions.

Not long after the New Moon is exact, Venus moves into the sign of Aries, giving us our first energetic glimpse at the astrological new year. Here, we shift from boundless, unconditional love to self-love, and the courage and decisiveness to go after what we want.

As wonky as Pisces energy can sometimes be, this New Moon is a powerful one for tying up loose ends and forging commitments that need to be made! Spend the next few weeks clearing out what you need to before Aries season begins on the Spring Equinox, March 20.
